This installment looks at the pressure to agree, applaud, repeat the popular opinion, and go along with the room — even when something feels off. Through The Hunger Games, the series continues exploring power, media, public opinion, fear, distraction, and what it means to stay awake as a citizen.

Hi, I’m Michaela McDonald — the writer, editor, and creator behind North Main.
I started North Main because I wanted to build something thoughtful, useful, and community-centered. My goal is to create a newsletter that helps people feel more connected to what’s happening around them — from events and small businesses to civic updates, personal stories, and the everyday moments that often happen between the headlines.
Each issue is written and designed with care, curiosity, and a belief that smaller communities deserve spaces where their stories, concerns, and voices can be seen. North Main is still growing, but the heart of it is simple: real people, real places, and a closer look at the communities we call home.
